Rolex Submariner Ref. 1680 ‘Iconic’
Don’t you just love a faded bezel insert? This one has turned a lovely blue-ish grey, which gives such great character to an already amazing vintage Sub.
The 1680 was launched in the late sixties, to run alongside the 5513. In contrast to the 5513, the 1680 was the first Submariner to feature the now famous date with cyclops. A 2,5x magnification lens was put on top of the acrylic crystal, right over the date window. It has become an iconic look for Rolex, which you can find on Datejusts, Day-Dates, GMT’s and more.
