Heuer Carrera 18k Ref. CS3140-1968

Here we present the re-edition of one of the most iconic watches ever created. In the early 1960s, the Heuer watch company began developing a clean and highly legible chronograph designed for timing car races. The concept came to life after a conversation in 1962 between CEO Jack Heuer and Pedro and Ricardo Rodríguez de la Vega. The two brothers were racing drivers for Ferrari and spoke about the dangerous Carrera Panamericana road race in Mexico that had taken place during the previous decade. Jack Heuer was so intrigued by the name that he registered it for Heuer and, within a year, developed the racing chronograph he had been dreaming of: the Heuer Carrera.

Fast forward to 1996, when TAG Heuer looked to its heritage catalogue for the first time to create a re-edition of the original 1963 Carrera, and we are proud to present it here at AWCo.

This piece is nearly identical to the original, featuring the same 36mm polished case, pump chronograph pushers, acrylic crystal, and three-register dial design. In the spirit of the original release, the Carrera Re-Edition was produced in multiple configurations, with ours executed in 18k yellow gold with a silver dial. The watch features a decimeter scale and includes the same light blue text seen on the original models.

Inside beats the iconic Lemania movement, once again staying true to the brand’s heritage.
