Rolex Precision 18k yellow gold
This is a beautiful example of a vintage Rolex Precision, dating from the 1970s. This particular model is known for its elegant, minimalist design and differs from the sporty watches Rolex is most known for today.
The watch is crafted from 18-karat yellow gold. What makes this piece special is the integrated bracelet. The bracelet flows seamlessly into the case, a sign of high-quality craftsmanship and luxury at the time. The bracelet has a refined, woven texture, also known as a “bark” or “mesh” finish.
The “Precision” designation on the dial tells us two things: Manual winding: Unlike the “Perpetual” models (which are automatic), this watch must be wound manually via the crown.
Movement: It contains an extremely reliable, slim mechanical movement, which allows for the flat and elegant shape of the case.
The dial is very serene with clean indices (stripes instead of numbers) and simple hands. The absence of a seconds hand contributes to the watch’s calm, formal appearance. It is often categorized as a classic dress watch.
The bracelet has a highly refined, hand-finished texture. In the watch world, this is often called a Florentine finish or a bark finish. Each incision in the gold was often applied by hand. This texture creates a silky sheen that is less “reflective” than polished gold, giving the watch an understated, chic look that is also less susceptible to visible scratches. It forms a single, continuous piece of jewelry around the wrist, which was the epitome of elegance at the time. The watch and strap are technically and visually unified.
In short, this is a very elegant dress watch for the contemporary woman who enjoys the look of a beautiful piece of jewelry.

Rolex is the absolute king of everyday watches. If it is haute horlogerie or the pinnacle of artistry in finishing techniques you are after, look elsewhere. But for pure everyday function, ruggedness and refinement, Rolex wears the crown.
The brand was founded by Alfred Davis and Hans Wilsdorf in London in 1905. In 1908, the name “Rolex” was registered. The brand would put a host of firsts and records to its name in the decades that followed. From the first chronometer rated wristwatch in 1910 to the first wristwatch with a water resistance of 100 meters in 1953.
A range of waterproofing measures, among which a screw-down-crown, resulted in the famous Oyster case. Up to this day it is the basic platform on which the vast majority of Rolex watches is built. Model names often feature both the Oyster (water resistance) and Perpetual (self-winding movement) terminology, followed by a specific model designation such as Datejust or Submariner.
Both modern and vintage Rolex watches are highly sought-after. They are broadly appreciated for their timeless designs, functional toughness, reliability, brand recognition and value retention.
