Audemars Piguet 18k white gold jumbo tv screen frosted case
This Audemars Piguet 18k white gold jumbo TV Screen with a frosted case is a beautiful watch with several special features.
The “Frosted Gold” finish is a result of a collaboration with jewelry designer Carolina Bucci, using the Florentine method to create small indentations in the gold for a sparkling effect.
The Audemars Piguet “TV Case” Oversize is a rare and striking expression of the brand’s creative spirit in the 1970s, a period when the house explored bold new forms while adhering to traditional craftsmanship and ultra-thin mechanical perfection.
This exceptional piece, crafted entirely from solid 18k white gold, features a silver-tone dial and a manually wound Calibre 2001 movement. The white gold case is instantly recognizable by its signature “TV screen” design—a trademark of avant-garde watchmaking in the 1970s.
The minimalist, architectural form demonstrates the House’s ability to combine groundbreaking design with timeless elegance, decades before integrated and contoured cases became commonplace.
This watch is powered by an Audemars Piguet Caliber 2001, a manually wound, ultra-thin movement that was a technical feat in its day. The caliber is beautifully constructed: sleek, reliable, and finished to the highest standards of haute horlogerie, as one would expect from the Audemars Piguet workshops in Le Brassus.
The Caliber 2001 is renowned for its precision and refinement and belongs to the same line that inspired many of AP’s finest dress watches in the 1960s and 1970s. The movement runs smoothly and accurately, underscoring the quality and care with which this piece has been preserved.
Amsterdam Watch Company has this truly stunning and rare Audemars Piguet on display. It’s a museum-worthy example of understated luxury from one of Switzerland’s most esteemed fashion houses, an icon of pure design and elegance from the mid-20th century. Along with many other vintage watches, AWCo offers a wide variety of watches. Come visit, experience them, and be amazed.

Audemars Piguet was founded by Jules Louis Audemars and Edward Auguste Piguet in 1875. The name Audemars Piguet & Cie was registered in 1881. AP is regarded as one of the holy trinity watchmakers, together with Patek Philippe and Vacheron Constantin.
Audemars Piguet has a rather impressive list of innovations to its name. From the world’s first minute-repeater wristwatch movement (1892), to the first jump-hour wristwatch (1921) and the first skeletonized watch (1934).
AP is particularly skilled at making thin movements. In 1946, they set the record for the worlds thinnest watch caliber at 1,64mm’s. They would later repeat their thinness-record-breaking habit with a tourbillon movement and later with the world’s thinnest automatic perpetual calendar.
Audemars Piguet is well known for its formal watches. From the Calatrava style watches of the early 20th century, to the elaborate haute-horology marvels of today. Their single most successful watch is something else entirely though: the Royal Oak.
The Royal Oak singlehandedly saved Audemars Piguet and much of the high-end Swiss watchmaking industry in 1972, by providing an answer to cheap quartz watches: the luxury steel sports watch. A design by Gerald Genta that would set a template for everyone. Since then, every watchbrand strives for a hit sports watch in steel. It is the horological equivalent to the Christmas hitsong.
AP has been particularly successful with the Royal Oak’s many variations since. From precious metal and complicated variants, to the more brutalist Royal Oak Offshore line. But even if you look beyond the sports models, there are many highly refined gems in both the current lineup as well as throughout the house’s illustrious history.
If a Rolex is like a Porsche, then an Audemars is like a Rolls Royce. It is every bit of luxury dialed up to eleven in an elegant, old-world kind of way. It is equal parts tradition and craftsmanship. If that speaks to you, look no further!
