A breathtaking vintage dress watch.
Vacheron Constantin is one of the oldest watch manufacturers in the world with a heritage dating all the way back to 1755. Vacheron is considered one of the Holy Trinity of watch brands since they have always manufactured super high-end watches throughout their existence with many innovative complications. Apart from their hunger to innovate watch movements, they’ve never neglected one of their essentials; dress watches.
This piece we’ve acquired is one of the prettiest dress watches we’ve seen in quite some time. The brand is right, the size is right and the condition is incredible. This dress watch has a 38 mm. diameter. This is a so-called ‘Oversized’ dress watch, the regular size for dress watches in the 1960s was no bigger than 36mm., everything bigger than that size was considered oversized. The oversized dress watches were a little irregular and big for that time which is why there’s very little of them on today’s watch market. Considering that all watch sizes are bigger today, this vintage piece is timeless and more desirable than ever.
This Vacheron Constantin is made out of pink gold, the rarest material of them all seen on this type of vintage watch. The pink gold watch case is in stunning condition with sharp rounded lugs. The dial has an off white colour with pink gold applique hour markers and minute markers. As you can see on the pictures, the 12 and 6 o’clock markers have some black wear on them, this, however, is a natural occurrence and a unique detail with this vintage piece. The dial is original and has never been refinished, moreover, there’s not a single indicator of moisture damage so we’ll just need to love these appliques the way they are with a natural patina.
This watch is sold with its original vintage Vacheron box, with a cool folding mechanism. The watch is in magnificent condition and we’re very pleased to have this on offer. Pink gold, oversized dress watches are really rare, and this piece is superb.
