Rolex Daytona Ref. 116523 B+P

In 1963, Rolex introduced the first Cosmograph, reference 6239. An important feature of this reference is the tachymeter scale on the metal bezel to improve the readability of the dial. This reference was available in black with silver registers of silver with black registers. This Rolex Chronograph was not immediately mentioned as the Daytona. In fact, Rolex used the name “Le Mans” in some advertisements before Rolex obtained the legendary “Daytona” name.

The name “Daytona” appeared on the dial in 1965. That same year Rolex introduced a new version with a new dial, called “exotic”. Typical details of the ‘exotic’ dial were: an outside ‘track’ that is analogous to the registers, registers with ‘cross-hairs’ and ‘block’ markers and a ’15 -30-45-60 ′ mark on the seconds register in place of ’20 -40-60 ′. This version is also called the “Paul Newman” and is very valuable today.

The modern Daytona that we show you here is from 2008 and good condition. The dial has a deep black color and through the sapphire glass it catches the eye even more. Once started as a tool watch for motor racing and now a legendary and beloved watch. The golden border around the registers nicely matches the rest of the watch’s appearance. We deliver this Daytona with the original box, booklets, tag and warranty papers.

A beautiful watch with a colorful history, worn by striking personalities. What for you?
