Rolex Datejust Ref. 6605

This rare Datejust in 18K yellow gold with Ref. 6605 dates from 1959.

The Datejust model is, in its simplicity, one of the most appreciated designs ever conceived by Rolex. The unmistakable aesthetics of the Oyster case classify it even to the less trained eye as indisputably “Rolex”, definitely one of the most instantly recognizable models. The practicality of a waterproof case (although of course a vintage watch should always be considered not-waterproof) and date indication made it the ideal everyday watch.

Among the rarest Datejust models, we can definitely count the present 6605. Made only for three years between 1956 and 1959. The present reference can thus be considered among the most interesting Datejust variations both for technical and aesthetic reasons. One of the distinguishing aesthetic features of this watch is the use of fan-shaped markers that are typical for the period. This watch we equipped with a vintage leather strap that is exclusively produced for Amsterdam Watch Company.
