Rolex Datejust Ref. 16244

The Rolex Datejust is one of those all-time classics, introduced just after the Second World War. The first Rolex with a spring mechanism connected to the date-disc, so the date was always just. From the beginning on a nice practical watch and due to developments in de watch industry a lot of variations occurred over time. Folded bracelets became solid steel ones, new materials could be used and the watch’s precision only improved. Therefore this design still is one of Rolex’ most popular ones of all time and still being produced today.

This Rolex Datejust from 2003 with reference 16244 is equipped with a so-called ‘Sodalite’ dial, the dial was originally fitted by Rolex which is confirmed by the original papers available with this watch. Sodalite is a crystal, made of a salty combination of manganese and calcium. Dating back to ancient civilisation, sodalite was carried by people for increased creativity and self-expression.

A natural, inconsistent and beautiful patterned dial in such a sophisticated watch, nature and human craftsmanship go visibly hand in hand in this watch. The factory set diamond indexes finish this dial, giving it an elegant and luxury look. The case wears the right oyster bracelet with very little to no stretch. The white-gold fluted bezel and sapphire crystal glass finish this timeless watch.
