Panerai leverde van oudsher militaire benodigdheden aan het Italiaanse leger, waaronder zaklampen, kompassen en ook horloges. Deze eerste Panerai horloges werden gemaakt met behulp van Rolex en zijn tegenwoordig zeer gewild. Na een periode van relatieve stilte is het merk onder de vleugels van Vendome (nu Richemont) een jaar of 15 geleden begonnen aan een onstuitbare opmars. Tegenwoordig heeft het merk een grote, trouwe groep liefhebbers en inmiddels behoort het tot de gevestigde namen van de horlogebranche.
Het hier getoonde model is een zogenaamde Submersible en geproduceerd in 2000. Deze modellen hebben in tegenstelling tot de meeste andere Panerai een draaibare lunette geïnspireerd op de ’Egiziano’, een horloge dat Panerai medio jaren ’50 voor het Egyptische leger maakte. De kast is Titanium, meet 44 mm in doorsnede en is voorzien van de kenmerkende kroonbeschermer. Het uurwerk wordt automatisch opgewonden en is voorzien van datumfunctie en kleine seconde.
Deze Panerai is een fullset en komt inclusief de originele doos, papieren en servicepapieren omdat het bij Panerai is geweest voor een complete uurwerkservice inclusief een nieuwe originele lunette.
