Autavia 11630 ‘Viceroy’
De naam ‘Autavia’ is ontstaan doordat Heuer in 1933 de twee woorden ‘AUTomobile’ en ‘AVIAtion’ combineerde waardoor de ‘Autavia’ ontstond, in den beginne een stopwatch met een 12-uur capaciteit. De verwijzing naar motorsport en luchtvaart was meer dan een marketingstrategie, omdat de Autavia was ontworpen om de coureur of piloot een timer te bieden die tegen een stootje kon en zeer betrouwbaar was. De ‘dashboard Autavia’s’ werden de standaard voor coureurs en rallyrijders van de midden jaren dertig tot de late jaren vijftig.
De eerste Autavia polshorloges werden in 1962 geïntroduceerd. De kastvorm van de eerste series was rond met een diameter van ongeveer 39 mm. Onder meer Formule 1 kampioenen Mario Andretti en Jochen Rindt droegen een handwind Autavia in de late jaren zestig.
De Autavia referentie 11630 die wij u hier aanbieden heeft de ‘jaren zeventig’ kastvorm. Het automatische chronograafuurwerk is het caliber 12. Deze referentie heeft mineraalglas in tegenstelling tot de eerste referentie met deze kastvorm de 1163. De staat van het horloge is zeer goed. Het horloge heeft de bijnaam ‘Viceroy’ naar het bekende sigarettenmerk van weleer.
