Some people see quartz watches as a side chapter in Rolex’s history, but the reality is far more interesting. Rolex was actively involved in the development of quartz technology and registered patents related to quartz movements as early as the 1950s. This eventually led to the creation of the Oyster Quartz collection, a fascinating chapter in the brand’s history that combined Rolex’s traditional craftsmanship with the precision of quartz technology.

This particular Rolex Datejust Oyster Quartz Ref. 17000 is a beautiful example of that era. Crafted in stainless steel, it features a striking black dial.
