In 1905 lanceerde Hans Wilsdorf zijn eigen bedrijf in Engeland en begon met het produceren van horloges van hoge kwaliteit. In 1908 registreerde hij het merk ’Rolex’ in La Chaux-de-Fonds Zwitserland. Het bedrijf verbleef ongeveer 15 jaar in Engeland en in 1920 werd het verplaatst naar Genève. Pas in 1946 werd door Hans Wilsdorf het merk ‘Tudor’ geïntroduceerd. Wilsdorf koos de naam Tudor omdat hij de zogenaamde ’Tudor periode’ in Engeland wilde eren. Gedurende de jaren sprongen met name de Rolex Tudor Chrono modellen er duidelijk uit omdat deze modellen werden uitgevoerd met Valjoux uurwerken. Deze uurwerken werden gemodificeerd en verbeterd ten behoeve van de Rolex Tudor horloges (gelijk aan voor de Rolex chronograven) inclusief exotische wijzerplaten zoals de Rolex Tudor Montecarlo serie met diverse kleuren en ontwerpen. De Franse Marine gebruikte Rolex Tudor watches voor haar duikers, de eerste Rolex Tudor Submariners werden aangeschaft door de ’Marine Nationale’ in de late 60-jaren.
De Tudor die wij u hier aanbieden is een zogenaamde mini-sub of midsize model. Het horloge is van staal en heeft een diameter van 33 mm. De referentie van dit model is 9091/0. Kenmerkend voor deze referentie zijn de blokvormige indexen in tegenstelling tot de meer gebruikelijke ronde indexen. De kleur van de wijzerplaat en bezel is blauw en dat matcht uitstekend bij de ‘creamy’ patina (verkleuring van de indexen). De inleg van de bezel is tenslotte licht vervaagd. Teken dat het horloge flink gedragen is en teken van originaliteit.
Wij denken dat het horloge prima om een stoere damespols zal staan. Het horloge is volledig geserviced en voorzien van een vol jaar garantie.
