Rolex Date Ref. 1503 ‘Structure dial’
For somebody who needs a little more structure in life.
The Rolex Date is one of the more modest-sized watches from the Rolex family. This piece measures 34mm without the crown, in the 1950s this size was big enough for many gentlemen. Today, 2019, a 34mm watch has become too small for many men. This doesn’t change the fact that this watch can actually be worn by both men and women. The full gold piece looks solid and a bit bigger than the measured 34mm in person.
This Date is equipped with an Oyster stretch bracelet, a riveted bracelet with the possibility to stretch out on the wrist reducing wear on the bracelet and improving comfort. The glossy middle link gives it an extra luxury detail and the condition of this bracelet is simply great.
The dial is what makes this piece exciting, this is what people call a structured dial. If you look closely you’ll notice this dial has some horizontal dashes with slight colour differences, horizontally built up like a brick wall with a good structure. This is one of the more rare dial variations Rolex has performed on the Date model and a true lust to the eye. The fluted bezel finished the extraordinary look.
