Pontiac een merk dat ontstond in de eerste helft van de 20e eeuw, eigendom van Suprecis Watch SA. In Belgie en Nederland was het onder beheer van een importeur. Het merk heeft zijn eigen systeem om de kwaliteit van het uurwerk te graderen. Dit doen zij door middel van sterren op de wijzerplaat onder de merknaam.
In de jaren 50 en 60 was het duiken niet alleen professioneel maar ook als hobby zeer geliefd. Vooral het scuba duiken nam een hoogvlucht. De duiker die wij u hier laten zien is uit omstreeks 1965 en heeft nog vele originele elementen. Bijvoorbeeld de kronen, zijn origineel, herkenbaar aan de sterren met daar omheen de merknaam.De wijzerplaat waar de tijd zijn sporen heeft nagelaten, patina genoemd. Het tritium mooi verkleurd op de typisch ‘glossy’ zestiger jaren wijzerplaat. Pontiac schreef zijn merknaam op 2 verschillende m,anieren, alles in hoofdletters of de P uitgestrekt boven de hele merknaam. Bij deze stoere het laatste en daaronder 3 sterren. Een waterdicht horloge die een kwalitatief hoger uurwerk had dan zijn voorganger de Nageur die 2 sterren had. Hydraulica 20, de naam is afgeleid van hydrologische druk en 20 staat voor 20 atmosfeer.
Eigenlijk verdient dit horloge een blik van dichterbij, dan ziet men het echte karakter van deze ‘pontificale ‘. De koffie staat klaar voor u.
