’You don’t own a Patek Philippe but you preserve it for the next generation’. De slogan van het wereldbekende merk die onlangs hun 175ste bestaan hebben gevierd. Door de jaren heen is deze slogan een waarheid geworden volgens ons. De historie is zo rijk dat het niet in een paar zinnen is samen te vatten. Door de jaren heen heeft het bedrijf al 70 patenten op hun naam weten te krijgen en produceren zij elk uurwerk binnenshuis. Op 1 mei 1839 richtten de Poolse zakenman Antoni Patek en de Poolse horlogemaker Franciszek Czapek in Genève samen een bedrijf op dat zij Patek, Czapek & Cie noemden. Czapek woonde sinds 1832 in Zwitserland en veranderde zijn naam in François Czapek toen hij genaturaliseerd werd. Het bedrijf liep goed maar ze gingen in 1844 uit elkaar en richtten ieder een eigen bedrijf op: Patek & Cie en Czapek & Cie. In 1844 ontmoette Patek de Franse horlogemaker Jean-Adrien Philippe, die zijn nieuwe uitvinding demonstreerde: het eerste horloge zonder opwindsleutel. Patek en Philippe besloten vanaf 1845 samen te werken en in 1851 werd hun bedrijf Patek Philippe & Cie opgericht. In 1901 werd de naam officieel Ancienne Manufacture d’Horlogerie Patek Philippe & Cie, S.
Het prachtige in 18 karaats rose gouden uitgevoerde model referentie 425 die wij u hier laten zien is 25 jaar lang door Patek Philippe geproduceerd. De lijn werd gestart in 1934, dit afgebeelde juweel is gemaakt in 1947 en verkocht op 12 augustus 1947 volgens het uitreksel uit het archief van Patek Philippe. Het model wordt ook wel ’Tegolino’ genoemd, wat ’klein tegeltje’ in het italiaans betekent. De kast heeft een lengte van 42mm en de band is ook massief rosegoud. De wijzerplaat is ’two-tone’ met een subsekonde onderaan op de plaats van de 6.
Het uurwerk is volledig door een van onze specialisten nagezien, dus zowel de buitenkant en binnenkant van dit zeldzame sieraad is in mint conditie.
