Patek: waar moeten we beginnen met het beschrijven van de magie van dit merk? Patek is een merk wat sinds 1839 TOPklasse horloges maakt, een merk wat legendes als het Graves-zakhorloge heeft gecreeerd en een merk wat bij veilingen keer op keer records breekt. Wat Rolls Royce voor de auto-liefhebber is en Attolini voor de liefhebber van maatpakken: op die hoogte staat Patek. De Calatrava wordt beschouwd als het vlaggenschip van Patek Philippe. Een lijn voor het eerst geïntroduceerd in 1932. Je zou kunnen zeggen dat de Calatrava het symbool is van het merk, omdat ze het Calatrava Kruis in hun logo hebben. Niet alleen dat, maar het is de lijn die het meest duurzaam voor Patek Phillipe geworden is.
Dit specifieke model, ref 3919, wordt door velen beschouwd als HET voorbeeld van een Dresswatch. Het originele 3919 Calatrava model met zijn iconische en herkenbare “Clous de Paris” guilloché (zoolspijker-patroon) bezel werd in 1985 geïntroduceerd en werd in 2006 geactualiseerd met de ref. 5119 Calatrava door het vergroten van de diameter van de ring van 33.45mm tot 36mm, een verandering in grootte, dat de groeiende trend voor grotere horloges weerspiegelde. Met zwarte Romeinse cijfers op wit gelakte wijzerplaat, is deze perfect in balans. Binnenin zit het kaliber 215 wat handmatig moet worden opgewonden. Het horloge heeft de originele doos en papieren en is afgemonteerd met een zwarte alligator band en gesp van Patek Philippe.
