Een van de oudste horlogemerken ter wereld, befaamd om hun ‘high end’ horloges. Het begon allemaal in 1835 als Antoine Norbert de Patek aankomt in Versoix, een klein dorp vlak bij Genève. Ziet u het al voor zich, een pittoresk Zwitsers dorpje, waar een ‘kleine’ horlogemaker zijn dromen waar maakt en uitgroeit tot de ‘Austin Martin’ van de horlogemerken vele eeuwen later.
De serie ‘Calatrava’ is een klassieker van de eerste orde, elegantie in hoogwaardige eenvoud. De ‘Bauhaus’ was een grote inspiratie voor de ontwerpers. Zoals u ook hier ziet, uitgevoerd in 18 karaats geel goud met een typisch kastvorm wat staat voor de vormgeving in de jaren 50. Dit decennia was een tijd dat alles wat weer een wat luxueuzere uitstraling mocht hebben. De vormgeving van de index , de ‘shape’ van de wijzers en de prachtige ‘minutetrack’ zorgt voor een sublieme uitstraling.
Ook het uurwerk is gemaakt door Patek Philippe zelf, het caliber 10-200. Dit hoogwaardige uurwerk, volledig door Patek Philippe zelf ontworpen en geproduceerd, heeft een aantal bijzondere aspecten. Het heeft een tikgetal van 19800, 18 jewels en is speciaal getest. Het is bestand tegen extreme kou, extreme hitte en uitvoerig getest op nauwkeurigheid in verschillende posities. Caliber 10-200 was de basis voor het alom bekende caliber 215, wat nog steeds gemaakt wordt.
