The Museum Watch
De Movado Museum Watch is te herleiden naar de ‘wortels’ van het moderne design en een groep artiesten die in 1919 de Bauhaus School oprichtten. ‘Eenvoud, smaak en functie’ was hun leidraad. Eén van hun meest pure ontwerpen was de zwarte wijzerplaat met een enkele gouden punt, ontworpen door een Amerikaanse artiest Nathan George Horwitt in 1947.
‘Wij kennen tijd niet als een nummer reeks,’ zei Horwitt, ‘maar door de positie van de zon als de aarde roteert’. Vandaar de enkele gouden punt op de 12-uurs positie wat de zon op de hoogste positie symboliseert en de bewegende wijzer als de beweging van de aarde.
Toen het design van de wijzerplaat van Horwitt geselecteerd werd voor de permanente collectie van de ‘Museum of Modern Art’ in New York, in 1960, werd dit het eerste horloge met deze eer. De naam ‘Museum Watch’ komt voort uit deze erkenning.
Vandaag de dag zijn de Movado Museum Watches onderdeel van diverse prominente musea in de wereld, en het de legendarische ‘single dot dial’ maakt onderdeel uit van de brede collectie van ‘Movado timepieces.
De Movado Museum Watch die wij u hier aanbieden komt uit circa 1967 en is uitgevoerd in 14k geel goud. De wijzerplaat is verkleurd van (oorspronkelijk) zwart naar bruin, ook wel ‘tropical’ genoemd. De diameter van het horloge is ongeveer 33 mm. Het horloge wordt tenslotte geleverd met een originele ‘Movado Museum Watch’ doos met lederen map.
