Het horloge heeft namelijk géén aparte sub-registers of sub-dials voor de chronograaf, zoals vele andere merken wel hebben. Er is, naast de minuten- en urenwijzer, een aparte, dunne wijzer voor de verstreken seconden en een aparte, donkere wijzer voor de verstreken minuten. Aan de buitenzijde van de wijzerplaat zit uiteraard meerdere ‘ringen’ of ‘tracks’ om de verstreken seconden en minuten te tellen. En dat alles in een horloge met een diameter van ongeveer 35 mm.

Het mooiste aan dit horloge komt nu. De kast is gemaakt door François Borgel en deze kastenmaker heeft ook de kast van de eerste waterdichte chronograaf van Patek Philippe gemaakt, referentie 1463. Deze Patek Philippe heeft ook dezelfde zogenaamde ‘sunburst pushers’ als deze Mido. Hoe mooi en bijzonder is dat?

Het uurwerk in deze Mido is een caliber 1300, welke is gebaseerd op het caliber Valjoux VZ. Dit caliber is ook onder meer gebruikt door Patek Philippe en Audemars Piquet.

Dit is toch wel een heel bijzonder horloge. We merken dat de markt voor oudere, stalen chronografen erg hot is momenteel. Kijk alleen maar eens naar de chronografen van Patek Philippe, sommige modellen in staal brengen op veilingen meer op dat de uitvoeringen in goud.
