Het Zwitserse horloge- en uurwerkenfabriek Lemania is opgericht door Alfred Lugrin. Alfred Lugrin heeft zijn kennis en vaardigheden opgedaan als medewerker van Jaeger LeCoultre in Le Sentier. Vanaf het begin heeft hij zich gespecialiseerd in chronografen, stopwatches en klokken met ‘repeater’ uurwerk. Gedurende zijn loopbaan heeft hij diverse onderscheidingen ontvangen voor zijn kwalitatief hoogwaardige uurwerken.
In 1930 werd de fabriek, intussen onder leiding van de zoon van Lugrin (Marius Meylan) tot Lemania Watch Co. omgedoopt. In 1932 ging Lemania samen met Omega en Tissot verder onder de SSIH groep. Door de nauwe samenwerking met Omega ontstonden prachtige chronograaf calibers. Het meest bekende het Lemania caliber 2310 ofwel Omega caliber 321. Dit caliber werd in 1962 door de NASA gekwalificeerd als het uurwerk te dragen door astronauten tijdens de bemande ruimtevluchten. Hiermee heeft de Omega Speedmaster zijn titel als ‘Moonwatch’ gekregen.
In 1981 is door een re-organisatie Lemania afgescheiden van de SSIH groep en ging verder onder de naam ‘Nouvelle Lemania’. In 1992 sloot Nouvelle Lemania zich aan bij Breguet om tenslotte in 1991 onder de vlag van de Swatch Group te vallen. Het Lemania caliber wordt nog steeds door vele bekende horlogemerken gebruikt.
De Lemania die wij u hier aanbieden, is nog onder de merknaam ‘Lemania’ uitgebracht omstreeks 1956. Het uurwerk is een caliber 2520, een handwinder met chronograaffunctie. De kast, kroon en pushers zijn van 18k geel goud. Het horloge inclusief uurwerk is volledig nagekeken en wordt verkocht met een jaar garantie.
Dit horloge straalt ‘vintage’ uit. Een goed formaat, namelijk 36 mm en een prachtige wijzerplaat.
