De kast en het uurwerk van deze LeCoultre is gebaseerd op de Omega Marine. De kast van de Omega Marine is ontworpen voor Omega door Frederic Baumgartner, een uit Genève afkomstige kastenmaker. Om de kast (en daarmee het horloge) waterdicht te maken, plaatste Frederic Baumgartner onder meer een rubberen pakking onder het glas en zorgde voor een specifieke klemming van het achterdeksel. Hij verkreeg zelfs drie patenten voor het ontwerp van deze kast.
We weten het niet zeker maar blijkbaar heeft LeCoultre ook horloges uitgebracht onder eigen naam, maar met de ‘Baumgartner’ kast en het Omega caliber. De naam ‘LeCoultre’ in plaats van ‘Jaeger LeCoultre’ heeft te maken met het gegeven dat horloges in Amerika alleen onder de naam ‘LeCoultre’ verkocht mogen worden. Misschien een vroeg samenwerkingsverband? Wie zal het weten.
Het horloge heeft in ieder geval een bijzonder verhaal en daar houden wij, en onze klanten, enorm van. Voor een horloge van van ruim 75 jaar oud, is het horloge in uitstekende conditie. Uiteraard uurwerktechnisch helemaal nagekeken en in orde gemaakt.
