‘Breitling is a way of life, my way of life’
Ergens begin jaren 40 introduceerde Breitling de Chronomat. Dit horloge was het eerste model met een rekenlineaal. Hiermee konden zakenlieden en ingenieurs bepaalde eenvoudige berekeningen snel aflezen. De Chromomat met de rekenlineaal bleek een groot succes. Na verloop van tijd werd er gedacht over méér mogelijkheden voor deze draaischijf. Het resultaat was de in 1954 geïntroduceerde Navitimer, een pilotenhorloge met uitgebreide rekenlineaal. De eerste exemplaren dragen het logo van AOPA: de “Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association”.
De u hier getoonde Navitimer is uit 1964. Dit model heeft net als het eerste type het mooie kaliber Venus 178, een handopwindbare chronograaf met zuilenrad. De wijzerplaat is voorzien van het AOPA logo. Dit logo is uiteraard zeer toepasselijk gezien de piloten-connectie. Deze 806 verkeert in zeer goede staat en heeft die typische vintage uitstraling.
