Omega Constellation Daydate

Omega Constellation Day-Date from the late 1960s, a model that marked a major departure in style.
In 1969, Omega decided to radically revamp the design of its most prestigious line. While earlier models were known for their geometric “pie-pan” dials, this model introduced the flowing, ergonomic lines of the C-Shape case. The name derives from the lugs, which, together with the side of the case, form the shape of two opposing “Cs,” a design often attributed to the legendary watch designer Gérald Genta.

The Omega Constellation exemplifies the “Space Age” aesthetic of that era:
The case: A robust, stainless steel case with an integrated appearance, where the bracelet flows seamlessly into the case for a modern and luxurious feel.
The dial: Unlike its predecessors, this model features a sleek, flat gray dial with a refined day and date display at the 3 o’clock position. The bezel: The subtly serrated edge around the crystal gives the watch that extra touch of character without disrupting its minimalist look.
Inside this watch is a Chronometer-certified automatic movement. In the 1960s and 1970s, the Constellation line was Omega’s absolute flagship, positioned above the Seamaster and Speedmaster in terms of luxury and technical perfection. The stars represent Omega’s eight victories and record results in chronometer competitions during the 1940s and 1950s.
Chronometer: The Constellation was the brand’s first mass-produced chronometer watch, underscoring its emphasis on precision and reliability.

This particular example, fitted with a sleek black leather strap, demonstrates the timelessness of the C-Shape design. It bridges the gap between the vintage elegance of the early 1960s and the bold, forward-thinking design of the 1970s.
