The watch brand Longines, which means more or less “long meadow” (we don’t make it up), begins its illustrious history when Ernest Francillon takes over a small factory in the Swiss Jura in 1866. In 1868 the first Longines watch was sold in America. A few years later, Longines was awarded a gold medal for precision and reliability at the Vienna World Exhibition.
This watch is beautiful because of its simplicity. The indexes are beautifully shaped and imposed. The case is perhaps the most special, namely made of rose gold. The size is 34 mm so not too small and in this time period, it fits perfectly around a men’s or women’s wrist. The condition of the watch is very good. The dial is undamaged and has a ‘crosshair’.
