Minerva, godin van personificatie van de goddelijke macht van het verstand en van de vindingrijkheid van de menselijke geest. Dat is uit de Griekse mythologie. Als wij aan de naam van dit horloge merk kijken is deze betekenis zeker van toepassing. Het horlogemerk Minerva opgericht in 1858 te Villeret en is door de jaren heen uitgegroeid tot een merk die bekend staat om hun manufacture uurwerken en technologische hoogstandjes. Het vroegste Minerva polshorloge werd vervaardigd in 1909, maar het grootste succes kwam in 1923 met de introductie van de nummer 20, een kaliber die een chronograaf met een kolom-wheel-mechanisme, een Breguet balans en 17 juwelen was. Met de lancering van dit horloge, verdiende het bedrijf zijn reputatie als fabrikant van ingewikkelde bewegingen van uitzonderlijke kwaliteit. In 1936, was Minerva verantwoordelijk voor het bijhouden van de tijd op de Olympische Winterspelen van 1936.
Het horloge wat wij u hier tonen heeft dit befaamde caliber 20, staaltje ambachtelijk vakmanschap. Het patina van dit horloge is werkelijk van een hoog niveau. De tijd heeft zijn sporen nagelaten , maar niet onverdienstelijk. Op de wijzerplaat bevinden zich 2 registers en een eigentijdse tachymeter. De stalen kast in combinatie met de lederen band geeft deze ’ouderling’ de krachtige uitstraling die het horloge verdiend.
